One of the most important aspects of a pickup truck is its ability to tow heavy loads. This is especially the case when it comes to heavy-duty models like the Ford F-Series Super Duty or the Chevrolet Silverado HD models. However, a truck that needs to tow heavy things needs a lot of torque, and it needs to be produced way down in the rev range. Without getting too technical, torque is basically a measurement of how much work an engine can do.

So, because pickup trucks these days offer, in some instances, over 1,000 lb-ft of torque, CarBuzz has decided to curate a special list of the 10 pickup trucks with the most torque, and we’ll be focusing on both fossil-fueled trucks and the electric pickup truck. Read on, and let’s see just how much torque today’s automakers can cram into a pickup truck-sized package.

10 2025 Ram 1500 REV

Max Torque: 620 LB-FT

First, and coming in with the least torque on our list, is the upcoming 2025 Ram 1500 REV. It’s an electric pickup truck, which Ram plans on releasing for delivery sometime in the fourth fiscal quarter of 2024. It’s a neat truck, with range estimations topping 500 miles and an estimated towing capacity that reaches 14,000 pounds, an extremely impressive amount for an electric vehicle. However, as with many EV pickup trucks these days, we’ll see just how much of a hit its range takes when a heavy trailer is strapped to it.

9 2024 Ford F-150 Raptor R

Max Torque: 640 LB-FT

Next up, we have the Ford F-150 Raptor R, the regular Raptor’s even more speed-crazed cousin. This increase in speed comes from a slightly adapted version of the famous supercharged V8 used in the now discontinued Mustang Shelby GT500. The engine was actually tuned to produce more torque than in the Mustang, as it could only muster 625 lb-ft.

8 2024 Ram 1500 TRX

Max Torque: 650 LB-FT

Coming in at eighth place on our list of torquiest pickups is the 2024 Ram 1500 TRX, a direct competitor to the Ford F-150 Raptor. It’s such a blatant competitor to Ford’s fast pickup that it’s named TRX after the Tyrannosaurus Rex, which, if you’re a Cretaceous Period history buff, you’ll know the T. Rex sat at the top of the food chain and ate raptors for breakfast. However, the TRX hasn’t lived up to its name in beating out the Raptor’s fastest, the Raptor R, in anything except its torque figure, which comes in at 650 lb-ft. Sadly, the TRX is set to be axed following the 2024 model year.

7 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning

Max Torque: 775 LB-FT

Another electric pickup truck graces our list in the 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning. The Lightning has been, unfortunately, fraught with issues since its inception. A couple of stop-sales have plagued its reputation, along with a couple of scathing exposés on its lack of range when doing any sort of towing. Regardless, it can still make an impressive amount of torque courtesy of its extended-range battery pack and dual electric motors, with its measurement coming in at 775 lb-ft.

6 2024 Tesla Cybertruck

Max Torque: 864 LB-FT

Yes, the Tesla Cybertruck does, indeed, make our list in its tri-motor configuration. We’ve all heard of the thing, and we’re starting to see them on our roadways near-daily, depending on where you live. Few vehicles have been so divisive when it comes to the Cybertruck’s love-it-or-hate-it looks. Despite all of this, it can still put out a good amount of torque, and tow up to 11,000 pounds to boot. In order to reach its max horsepower and torque, you’ll have to engage what Tesla calls “Beast Mode,” a driving mode which unlocks the Cybertruck’s full power potential.

5 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD / 2024 GMC Sierra 3500 HD

Max Torque: 975 LB-FT

Our first heavy-duty pickup truck hits our list as a pair; the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD and the 2024 GMC Sierra 3500 HD. Both of these trucks sport identical underpinnings, which is what makes them basically twins on the inside, while their exterior and cabin designs differ somewhat. Both trucks sport the newest iteration of the 6.6-liter Duramax turbo-diesel V8, and both can tow the same amount. However, in order to unlock those 36,000 pounds of towing capability, you’ll need to equip yours with a fifth-wheel gooseneck hitch.

4 2024 Ram 3500 HD

Max Torque: 1,075 LB-FT

Next on our list is Ram’s heavy-duty entrant, the 3500 HD. Ram’s partnership with engine builder Cummins spans over three decades, and the recipe for the inline-six diesel engine hasn’t changed much, apart from updating it to suit the times. These days, a Cummins-equipped Ram 3500 is capable of some serious torque, with well over 1,000 lb-ft on tap. That twisting power translates into an impressive towing capacity, so long as you have the fifth-wheel gooseneck hitch installed on your 3500 HD.

3 2025 Rivian R1T

Max Torque: 1,198 LB-FT

Rivian’s R1T pickup makes it on our list with its impressive, near-1,200 lb-ft torque rating. The R1T and its sister model, the R1S SUV, have recently undergone a refresh, and both have received some new power plants and motor configurations to up their power output. In today’s race for the most torque happening between EV makers, the Rivian R1T is one of the most powerful EV pickup trucks on sale today. However, we’ll see if they can hold onto that prestige over the coming years.

2 2024 GMC Hummer EV3X Pickup Truck

Max Torque: 1,200 LB-FT (Not 11,500 LB-FT)

The penultimate model gracing our list is the GMC Hummer electric pickup truck, one of the heaviest civilian vehicles ever made at 9,063 pounds of curb weight. GM made some waves with the Hummer EV with claims of 11,500 lb-ft of torque. However, this figure was reached by combining individual wheel torque outputs, rather than taking the measurement from the output shafts as most automakers have done for decades. At the end of the day, its measurement of 1,200 lb-ft with the tri-motor powertrain equipped is still impressive.

1 Ford F-450 Super Duty

Max Torque: 1,200 LB-FT

The last, and torquiest, pickup truck on our list is the Ford F-450 Super Duty. It’s the most powerful fossil-fueled truck on the market today, and, if you don’t pay attention to the Hummer EV’s ludicrous claim of 11,500 lb-ft of torque, it rivals the most powerful EV pickup in terms of torque, as well. The engine powering the F-450 isn’t the usual 6.7-liter Power Stroke Diesel we’ve become accustomed to. It’s a High Output version, which ups the torque figure by 150 lb-ft and the horsepower by 25. It’s truly an impressive thing, especially with its half-a-semi-truck towing capacity.
