Drag race videos are quite common on internet these days. People with powerful cars often compete with other vehicles from the same or other segments. There are videos where we see superbikes racing against each other on the road. Here we have a video where a 11 year old Maruti Suzuki Kizashi sedan is seen competing with a 2022 model Volkswagen Virtus GT sedan. How did both the sedans perform in the race, let’s check the video to find out.
The video of the drag race has been posted by Pratham Shokeen on his YouTube channel. In this video, the vlogger talks about the technicals specification of both the car. Virtus GT is currently one of the most powerful sedans available in the segment. The vlogger owns Virtus GT and his friend owned the Kizashi. Both these cars look extremely well maintained. On paper, Kizashi looked powerful on paper however, the owner was not sure if the performance got affected because of cars age.
In the first round, the Virtus was in normal mode and there were 3 people in car. The Kizashi had 2 occupants in it. Both of them prepared for the race and on the count of 3, both sedans started racing. The DSG transmission on the Virtus is actually known for an initial lag. By the time Virtus picked up speed, Suzuki Kizashi already took the lead. Both the sedans had an aggressive start. The Kizashi was in the lead and maintained it till the end. Vlogger attempted to overtake the sedan but even at 170 kmph, the Virtus could not take the lead back.
The Suzuki Kizashi was declared the winner in first round. For the second round, the vlogger removed one person from his car and switched to Sport Mode. The race started and Kizashi was in lead once again. However, the driver actually missed a gear and that gave Virtus a gap to take the lead. The Virtus kept on building speed and the Kizashi could not do much. It was actually the driver’s fault why Kizashi did not win the second round.
For the third round, both the sedan were lined up and they started racing. Once again Kizashi took the lead and it went ahead. The Virtus was just behind the Kizashi however, it could not overtake the car at any point. The Virtus touched 180 kmph and even then the Kizashi was in lead. The vlogger announced Kizashi as the winner of the race.
The Virtus GT is powered by a 1.5 litre turbocharged petrol engine. This engine is mated to a 7-speed DSG and it generates 150 Ps and 250 Nm of peak torque. The Maruti Suzuki Kizashi is actually powered by a 2.4 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates 180 Bhp and 230 Nm of peak torque. The car was available with both CVT and manual transmission.
It is one of the most premium looking sedan that Maruti Suzuki has ever offered in Indian market. It was definitely a very premium product but, it never caught buyers attention mainly because of the price. When the car was available in the Indian market, it was sold at a starting price of Rs 16.53 lakh, ex-showroom and went up till Rs 17.53 lakh, ex-showroom. Suzuki Kizashi was actually a CBU and that was one of the reason behind it’s steep price tag.
