At the heart of the Z8 is the S62 4.9-liter naturally-aspirated V8 engine, which makes 394 horsepower. One of BMW’s all-time great engines, the S62 unit also powered the E39 M5 sedan. It’s hooked up to a six-speed manual gearbox, giving the Z8 a refreshingly analog feel in 2022.
As expected for a car that has barely been touched, this black Z8 is in impeccable condition. The paintwork is flawless and the upholstery looks as good as new. The wraparound dashboard looks markedly different to other BMWs and features analog gauges set in the center but angled in the direction of the driver.
Sold with a commemorative Z8 coffee table book that chronicles the history of the Z8, a manual set, and other extras, this is as good a Z8 as anyone is likely to find. When it goes up for sale at Pebble Beach Auctions, it’s expected to fetch between $450,000 and $550,000.
