- The 2025 GMC Terrain was spied without camouflage, and it looks to share much of its shape with the related 2025 Chevy Equinox.
- The Terrain does get unique front and rear ends, with a chunky grille and headlights.
- The 2025 GMC Yukon was also spotted with refreshed C-shaped headlights and restyled bumpers.
GMC has big plans for 2025. After launching a new generation of the Acadia for 2024, the automaker’s smallest SUV, the Terrain, is also set to receive a full redesign for 2025. On the other end of the lineup, GMC is readying a refresh for its biggest offering, the full-size Yukon. While both new SUVs were teased earlier this year, showing off bold headlight designs, we now have spy photos that reveal both SUVs completely undisguised.
A More Butch Equinox
The spy photos of the 2025 GMC Terrain confirm that the crossover will similar bodywork with its platform-mate, the Chevy Equinox, also updated for 2025. The most noticeable similarity is the C-pillar, which gets a “shark fin” design that rises up at an angle but remains separated from the roof by black trim, with the Terrain’s pillar just a tad taller than that of the Equinox. The shape of the side windows and wheel arch trim are seem to be exactly the same.
The big changes for the Terrain are up front, and this off-road-oriented AT4 trim sports a large, chunky grille with horizontal chrome trim accents on a blacked-out background. The headlights have a C-shaped LED graphic and connect to the grille, as do the small fog light clusters. The bumper wears a silver skid plate and a pair of red tow hooks. This AT4 model’s six-spoke wheels are wrapped in General Grabber A/T Sport tires, which are also offered on the Chevy Equinox Activ. The rear end features simplified L-shaped taillights.
Previous spy photos showed off a large vertically oriented infotainment screen inside, as well as a digital gauge cluster. The Terrain is expected to share its powertrain with the Equinox, pairing a 175-hp turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder with either front- or all-wheel drive. We expect the Terrain to be revealed in full in the next few months.
Yukon Gets Facelifted
The Yukon’s updates are far more subtle, with the full-size SUV simply being refreshed versus the Terrain’s more comprehensive update. The headlights are fully restyled, with a large lower section that houses the main lamps and then a hooked LED “eyebrow” rising above. The taillights keep the same shape but have a new graphic design and are now linked by a rectangular trim piece.
The photos of the Yukon also show the AT4 variant, with a darkened, hexagonal grille that dominates the front end. The chrome lower trim houses the two red tow hooks, while a skid plate live below. The Yukon AT4 appears to ride on 275/60R-20 Goodyear Wrangler Territory AT tires.
We don’t expect major changes under the hood, with the 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter V-8s likely to carry over without any updates. The turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six diesel will probably receive the same power bump that it did in the 2025 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban, rising by 28 horsepower and 35 pound-feet to totals of 305 hp and 495 pound-feet of torque. As with the Terrain, a full reveal should happen soon.
