The N e-shift, as it’s known, gives the driver a feeling of control over the driving experience. It’s been modeled after the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission found in ICE-powered N cars, like the Elantra N. It emulates a gearbox by regulating torque output and has simulated shifts with audible cues.
There are three sound themes: Ignition, Evolution, and Supersonic. The first sounds like a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, while Evolution mimics the sound of the RN22e prototype. Lastly, there’s Supersonic, which has been inspired by twin-engined jets. Is all of this necessary? No. But Hyundai wants to create a thrilling experience that appeals to everyone, and it’s done just that.
Summing up all the cool features of this car is not something we have space for here, but the clear goal was maximum fun in every aspect of the car.
