These cars, although now discontinued, still offer us a sense of nostalgia, and many people want them to return. Tata Sierra

When it comes to SUVs, the Tata Sierra holds a special place in the history of Indian automobiles. It was the country’s first true SUV, designed and developed for the consumer market. It was launched in the 1990s and was based on the Tata Telcoline.

The most unique design aspect of the Sierra was that it came with a distinctive three-door design and Alpine windows at the rear. The Sierra was not just a vehicle; it was a statement. And this is exactly the reason why many people want it to make a return.

Thankfully, Tata Motors has announced the Sierra will be making its long-due return and has also shared a finalized concept of the SUV. It has been confirmed by the company that it will be offered with both electric and ICE powertrains.

And for all those reasons, again, the country wants it back. We truly hope that Maruti Suzuki can work their magic and bring it in a modern avatar.

This sedan managed to rule Indian roads for nearly six decades. It was seen as a family sedan, a VIP vehicle, and a taxi—particularly the iconic yellow cabs of Kolkata. The Ambassador was known for its solid build, spacious interiors, and comfort.

So today, a ton of enthusiasts want this iconic sedan to make a comeback. So far, there have been no reports that have suggested if it will surely make a comeback to the Indian automotive market or not. However, it would be amazing if it does come to India.

Although Hindustan Motors is best known for the Ambassador, it also produced another iconic vehicle—the Contessa. This legendary sedan was launched back in 1984, and it was India’s answer to the muscle cars of the West. With its long bonnet, broad stance, and powerful engine options, the Contessa offered a sense of power and style that was unmatched at the time.

The Contessa quickly became a symbol of luxury and status, often featured in Bollywood films as the car of choice for the rich and powerful. However, as more fuel-efficient and modern vehicles entered the market, the Contessa’s sales began to decline, leading to its eventual discontinuation in 2002.

Many enthusiasts even modified their Zens to produce over 100 PS. Now, although the Zen was eventually replaced by the Estilo, even today, a ton of enthusiasts want this hot hatchback to make a return. Presently, Maruti Suzuki does not offer any hot hatch in India, and a Zen descendant can fill up its shoes.

Popularized by Bollywood as the “Kidnapping car,” the Maruti Omni was first launched in 1984. At the time, it was the second vehicle introduced by Maruti Suzuki, following the success of the 800. Initially named the Maruti Suzuki Van, the Omni was a versatile workhorse.

It was used as a family van, a school bus, a taxi, or even an ambulance; the Omni was everywhere. It came powered by the same 800cc engine as the Maruti 800. Unfortunately, despite its popularity, the Omni was eventually discontinued and replaced by the Maruti Eeco.

However, the idea of the Omni making a comeback has always lured many people. Now, although it might not be able to attract as many buyers today, many people would still love to see this van back on Indian roads. Maybe the company could bring it as an electric luxury MPV.
