Honda e:N2 electric concept revealed

Honda previews its second concept car designed to preview a range of new electric cars for the Chinese market.

Honda has revealed the e:N2 Concept electric car at the China International Import Expo event in Shanghai.

It’s the second electric concept car revealed by Honda in the past 12 months, with the brand announcing in 2021 its plan to create ten electric production cars exclusively for China under the ‘e:N’ nameplate by 2026.

The Honda e:N2 Concept takes the shape of a large sedan, with a pared-back and minimal design that’s accentuated by sharp creases and slimline lighting.

The brand says the edgy concept car indicated “the (styling) direction of All-New EV Models” to come from Honda in the future, particularly its Chinese range.

Although scarce on details of what’s powering it, Honda claims the “e:N Architecture F” platform under the concept was designed to achieve driving pleasure, a “good sense of unity with the vehicle”, and crisp handling.

If you like the look of Honda’s future electric vehicles, too bad – it’s understood the brand will only sell its future electric e:N series of vehicles in China.

Toshihiro Mibe, Director, President and Representative Executive Officer of Honda Motor Co, said in a media statement: “In China, Honda will continue delivering a broad range of electrified mobility products unique only to Honda and experience our rebirth into an electric mobility brand”.

Honda currently builds an electric version of the small HR-V in China under a joint-venture program with Chinese state-owned car brand Dongfeng, exclusive to the Chinese market.

It’s expected that Honda’s future e:N electric cars will also be built in China.
