Mahindra has been launching hit products in the market one after the other for the last couple of years. Last year they launched the all-new Scorpio N which received an overwhelming response from buyers. Just like XUV700 and Thar 3-door, Scorpio N also has a long waiting period now. This year, Mahindra is planning to launch their all-new SUV Thar 5-door. We have seen several spy pictures and videos of the upcoming SUV online. This is the first time, Mahindra will be launching a practical 5-door version of the Thar in the market. Here we have a video that takes a closer look at the upcoming Mahindra Thar 5-door.
The video has been uploaded by Yash9w on their YouTube channel. In this video, vlogger spots a heavily camouflaged Mahindra Thar 5-door in Chandigarh. Mahindra must have probably brought the SUV for high-altitude testing and they would be driving the car from Chandigarh to the mountains. Vlogger managed to go near the parked Mahindra Thar 5-door to take a closer looks and in this video he shows what all things he found different in the car.

In terms of looks, the Mahindra Thar 5-door is exactly the same as 3-door version. It gets round halogen headlamps, signature grille and a rugged looking bumper at the front. The only difference seen at the front are the fog lamps. They get a different design than that of the 3-door variant. This is just a test vehicle and Mahindra might change it in the final version. Side profile of the SUV reveals more changes. It now looks longer. In fact as long as a Mahindra Scorpio N. The rear set of doors are clearly seen in the video and the positioning of the door handles are also seen here. The rear door handles are placed vertically on the pillar which makes it easier to open and close.
Just like in the previous test version, the rear wheel cladding is missing in this Thar as well. The rear bumper and tail lamp design all look the same. The spare wheel is still mounted on the tailgate and this is the same 18 inch alloy wheel that we see on the 3-door version. The vlogger managed to record a video of the interior of this Thar. In this we see another interesting thing. The overall design of the cabin looks the same as before. The one seen here is an automatic version and it looks like Mahindra will be offering a 4×4 and 4×2 version of the SUV in the market.
The one seen here is the 4×2 version as there is no 4×4 lever seen on the center console. The touchscreen infotainment system, multi-function steering wheel, cruise control are all going to be offered with the 5-door Thar. Mahindra will not be offering disc brakes for the rear wheels. The seats in the test mule where the same as 3-door and even the rear seat passengers were getting bucket seats. Mahindra might change this for proper split seat to accommodate 5 passengers. In comparison to the 3-door version, 5-door Thar has a larger boot and it is shown in the video here. Mahindra is expected to offer Thar 5-door with both petrol and diesel engine options and both engine options are likely to be offered with manual and automatic options.
