Volkswagen Virtus with 18-inch wheels looks hot! [Video]

The newest sedan from the German automotive giant Volkswagen India the Virtus has gained quite the popularity in India. The model has turned the fortunes of the Volkswagen brand in the country and proved itself as one of the best performance sedans in India. The model comes with a GT variant that gets a bigger 1.5 liter turbo petrol engine that has become one of the favorites for enthusiasts. Although its base variants have also received a ton of sales in the country. A ton of people have also started modifying this new sedan and recently a video of a Virtus fitted with 18-inch alloy wheels was shared online.

The video of the white Virtus with a set of custom alloy wheels was shared on YouTube by Ashish Kashyap on their channel. In the video, a base spec white Virtus can be seen sitting on a set of 10-spoke diamond-cut alloy wheels. The custom set of alloy wheels is also wrapped with some low-profile tyres. Overall the car gets a much more aggressive stance than a stock Virtus and looks quite different.

The new kid on the block

The Virtus is Volkswagen’s response to the Honda City and Hyundai Verna, which have long dominated the mid-size sedan category. The Virtus is built on the MQB A0 IN platform, which also serves as the foundation for the Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and Skoda Slavia. The new Virtus is larger in size than its cousin Slavia. It also takes the place of the discontinued Jetta in the lineup.

Variants offered

Volkswagen offers the Virtus in two lines – the Dynamic Line and Performance Line. The Virtus’s Dynamic Line is split into three trims – Comfortline, Highline and Topline – while the Performance Line comes in a single, fully-loaded GT trim. Only the 1.0-litre turbo-charged petrol engine is available with the Dynamic Line variants. Then there is the top-of-the-line Performance Line GT Plus variant which gets the 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine and only an automatic DSG transmission.

Loaded with creature comforts and safety tech

The German carmaker offers this mid-size sedan with a long list of features, including all-LED headlamps, an eight-speaker system, single-pane sunroof, climate control system, automatic headlamps, and rain-sensing wipers, ventilated seats, push-button start, 60:40 split seats with the GT, cooled glove box and more. The new Virtus will also come with stability control, hill-hold, tyre deflation warning, electronic differential lock, multi-collision braking and even six airbags with the top-end variants.

Powertrain options

As mentioned Volkswagen only offers the Virtus with two petrol engine options. The first is a 1.0-litre TSI engine that generates a maximum power of 115 PS and a peak torque of 178 Nm. This engines is offered with a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic transmission option. Additionally, there is a more powerful 1.5-litre TSI engine in GT variant that generates a maximum power of 150 PS and a peak torque of 250 Nm. The more powerful 1.5-litre TSI comes available only with a seven-speed DCT. The Volkswagen Virtus price starts at Rs 11.32 Lakh and goes upto Rs 18.42 Lakh (Avg. ex-showroom).
