Alfa Romeo’s turnaround has been rocky, but the company is growing more confident as the Tonale has started off on the right foot. The brand called 2022 an ‘extremely positive’ year, revealing that registrations in Europe increased by 22%. France, Germany, and Italy saw increased demand, as did Austria, Spain, Greece, and Portugal, reflecting Alfa Romeo’s continued growth.

The company credits a lot of this success to the Tonale, which they say kicked off their “metamorphosis and represents the milestone in the ‘from zero to zero’ process that will lead Alfa Romeo to be the fastest brand in the global automotive landscape in the transition from zero electrified cars to an entire zero-emission range in 2027.”

According to a report from Autocar, one of the first electric models to join Alfa Romeo’s range will be the next-generation Giulia, set to arrive around 2025. The entry-level model should have around 345 hp (257 kW / 350 PS), while there will be a Veloce packing roughly 790 hp (589 kW / 801 PS).  The publication also quotes CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato as saying that the next-generation Giulia Quadrifolio will have around 986 hp (736 kW / 1,000 PS).

That’s an impressive figure and Imparato suggested the car could have a WLTP range of up to 435 miles (700 km).  He went on to say the redesigned sedan will look like “the Alfa Romeo we all want.”

Besides talking about the Giulia, Alfa’s boss said that an entry-level, sub-compact crossover, tipped to be called the Brennero, will launch next year with hybrid and electric powertrains.  It will be followed by more electric models in 2025 and 2026. Beyond the Giulia, the next Stelvio will also be electrified, although it’s not clear which model will arrive first.

In other news, Imparato said the brand’s upcoming supercar is nearly sold out.  The model is tentatively known as the 6C and is expected to be introduced this summer.
