MG launched 2023 version of their popular SUV Hector in the market earlier this year. We did do a detailed walkaround and review of the updated MG Hector and you can find the articles and video for the same on our website and Youtube channel. MG Hector competes with cars like Tata Harrier, Mahindra Scorpio N in the segment. We have seen several videos of MG Hector online and here we have video where a vlogger compares the MG Hector with a Mahindra Scorpio N SUV.
The video has been uploaded by HER GARAGE on their YouTube channel. In this video, vlogger compares the exterior, interior and features on both the SUV. She starts by talking about MG Hector. The front of the SUV gets a large grille with chrome garnish in it. The LED DRLS are dual-function units and the headlamps placed on the bumper are dual-projector units. The lower part of the bumper gets a silver faux skid plate and the fog lamps are LED units too. Coming to Scorpio N, the SUV gets single projector headlamps, LED DRLs, and LED turn indicators. The grille is not as large as the Hector and the use of chrome is also very less. The fog lamps are projector units and the SUV also gets a silver coloured skid plate. Scorpio N is wide than Hector in terms of dimensions however, Hector is longer and offers more ground clearance than Scorpio N.

Coming to the side profile, MG Hector continues to offer chrome garnishes on window lines and the bling factor is quite evident on the lower part of the doors and wheels. The SUV gets 18 inch machine cut alloy wheels. The Scorpio also gets 18 inch alloy wheels but, it offers side steps and when compared to Hector, Scorpio N is taller too. At the rear, MG Hector gets an all-LED tail lamp with connecting LED bar on the tailgate. The tailgate itself can be opened and closed electrically. In Scorpio, the tailgate is manual and the lights are mounted vertically. Use of chrome on Scorpio N is very less when compared to Hector.
Moving in, MG Hector gets black and off-white coloured dual-tone interior. The SUV gets electrically adjustable seats at the front and the multi-function steering wheel, with ADAS features, cruise control and buttons to control the fully digital instrument cluster and the large 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The SUV offers a panoramic sunroof, auto-dimming IRVM, ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging, ample amount of space in the cabin and many more features. It offers a premium look to the cabin.
Mahindra Scorpio N on the other hand offers a black and brown dual-tone interior. It gets an electrically adjustable driver seat, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, electric sunroof, cruise control, multi-function steering wheel, dual-zone climate control and so on. When compared to Hector, Scorpio N offers slightly less space and the boot space in Hector is much more than that in the Scorpio N. MG Hector is available with a 1.5 litre turbo petrol and a 2.0 litre turbo diesel engine. Only the petrol offers automatic transmission.
The Scorpio N on the other hand uses 2.0 litre turbo petrol and 2.2 litre turbo diesel engine. Both these engines are offered with manual and automatic transmissions. The top-end diesel version also offers 4×4 feature. Overall both SUVs have their own positives and negatives. If you are looking for a feature-loaded SUV with premium looks, then Hector is the SUV to go for. If the customer wants a rugged looking SUV then Scorpio would make more sense.
