It could have been all over after that, but no. Roberts only made things worse and potentially far more dangerous. After the sidewalk fight, Roberts returned to his car, made a U-turn, and drove directly onto the sidewalk, deliberately striking the pedestrian.
“That’s when I think the insanity started,” the witness continued. “Took his brand new Corvette, like full speed; he wanted to run over the guy. I’ve never seen something like this. It was a purposely-done action just to hurt him, to kill him. He went out of his mind.”
The pedestrian was not killed, but his legs were struck by the car, resulting in severe injuries that landed him in the hospital. The dogs, fortunately, were not harmed. At the time, Roberts didn’t realize that there was another eyewitness: an off-duty police sergeant.
