This modified Hindustan Ambassador sedan can do 150 Kmph [Video]

The Hindustan Ambassador is one of the most iconic cars in India’s automotive history. It was once considered a status symbol in society and has also served as the official vehicle for many politicians and government officials. The car was not loved for its performance; instead, it offered an extremely comfortable cabin, which is what customers wanted. Weighing like a truck and producing less than 100 Bhp, the car could not achieve the high speed that most modern cars can easily do these days due to its weight and design. Recently, a video of a Hindustan Ambassador doing 150 kmph surfaced online, leaving viewers in disbelief as they never thought an Ambassador could do this. However, it’s important to note that this is not a regular Ambassador.

The video was taken from another car that was also traveling at 150 km/h and following the Ambassador, which was easily cruising at triple-digit figures. However, it’s important to note that this is not just any other Ambassador. This iconic white sedan has upgrades worth Rs 30 lakhs, which is quite a sum! Yes, you read that correctly. This Ambassador is the brainchild of Karanraj Shah, the owner of KS Motorsport. Even the chassis has been upgraded in this car, with the underpinnings and engine taken from the Nissan Sylvia S13. The S13 utilized the powerful SR20 engine, making it a perfect fit for this project.

To handle the significant power upgrade, KS Motorsports has also added new front suspension mounts, a gearbox tunnel, fenders, and several other updates like lip bumpers. Many parts of this Ambassador are custom-made to suit the unique build. This Ambassador is equipped with 8-piston brake calipers in the front and 4-piston brake calipers at the rear. With over 200 Bhp of power, it’s no surprise that this car is a force to be reckoned with on the road. It’s important to note that this car is actually a Nissan S13 underneath the body of an Ambassador, which explains the steep price tag of around Rs 30 lakh!

This is not the first time Karanraj has embarked on a project like this. Years ago, he built a similar vehicle using an Ambassador sedan as the base. The first project gained attention after it was featured in a magazine, inspiring the current owner of the white Ambassador to seek out Karanraj’s expertise. The first Ambassador, also built by Karanraj Shah, was finished in red and generated a whopping 300 Bhp. The donor car for this project was an Ambassador Grand sedan which came equipped with a 1994 Nissan Sylvia S13 engine.

The new white Ambassador sedan is powered by a heavily retuned 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, with added support such as a bigger Garrett turbo, an intercooler, and a Nismo exhaust system. KS Motorsports has also installed new suspensions, drivetrain, and axles. It’s important to note that these modifications are not legal under the law. However, enthusiasts can still purchase such vehicles and keep them in their garage. Modified vehicles can be used on private properties such as racetracks, but it is illegal to run them on public roads.
