The 2024 Chevrolet Trax might be small but it has some big shoes to fill

In just a few days we’re going to get behind the wheel of Chevrolet’s new Trax crossover. Despite being pretty small it’s got big shoes to fill this year. We’re here to answer your questions about the new entry-level Chevy.
The Trax is all new for the 2024 model year. Along with its all-new status, it also takes up the mantle as the cheapest Chevy on the market following the death of the Cruze, Sonic, and Spark. To that end, it starts at $21,495 and comes with a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine, a six-speed automatic gearbox, and front-wheel drive only.
That might end up being by design as the Trax is a lot closer in size to the Chevrolet Trailblazer than it might initially look like. It’s also priced nearly identically. Regardless of what the future holds regarding the relationship between these two models, we do know that we’ll have seat time in a number of Trax trims.

That seat time will be all around the city of Asheville, North Carolina, an area known for its beauty and its eclectic attitude. Chevrolet tells us that we’ll have one afternoon in the ACTIV and LT trims and then another “navigating the winding roads of Asheville, NC” in the RS trim level. Will 137 hp (102 kW) be a complete letdown on epic roads? That’s a question I have.
What isn’t up for too much debate is how much better this car looks from afar, at least in press photos. There’s no doubt that it’s far more attractive than the outgoing model. Both the exterior with its updated looks and the interior with its modern styling looks better than before.
