Mahindra Bolero modified to Land Rover Defender

The Mahindra Bolero is a highly popular utilitarian multi-utility vehicle in the Indian market. It is likely the oldest model in Mahindra’s lineup and despite its many years of service, the Bolero continues to perform well in terms of sales. This is why Mahindra has made only a few changes and has instead updated the Bolero to comply with new emission and safety regulations. The market offers several modification options for the Bolero, some of which we have featured on our website. In this video, we showcase a Mahindra Bolero that has undergone a complete transformation into a Land Rover Defender.

The YouTube channel Dayakaran Vlogs has uploaded a video showcasing a neatly modified Mahindra Bolero 4×4 designed to resemble a Land Rover Defender. As we have observed in the past, people in Punjab have a great fondness for jeeps and SUVs, and many modification garages are located in the area. The workshop responsible for this project is called Big Daddy Modifiers, based in Jalandhar, Punjab. Using custom-built parts, they have transformed a standard-looking Bolero into a Land Rover Defender.

Let’s start with the basics: the SUV no longer resembles a Bolero from any angle. The exterior has undergone a complete transformation. Starting with the front, it features a metal off-road bumper with a bullbar, which also houses projector fog lamps. The front grille and headlamp covers are custom-made metal units, and no fiberglass panels were used in this project. The headlamps are aftermarket projector LED units. The fenders and the bonnet have been completely redesigned, giving the SUV the appearance of a previous-generation Defender.

Mahindra Bolero modified into Defender

The entire body of the Bolero was modified for this project, including an extension of the vehicle’s length to achieve better proportionality. The SUV also appears significantly taller than the standard Bolero, thanks to a 4-inch lift kit and aftermarket off-road spec wheels with chunky-looking tires. The side profile features Defender-inspired windows, doors, and quarter glass, along with a custom-designed metal footstep. At the back, the SUV has been redesigned to resemble a Defender once again.

To avoid overloading the door, the spare wheel is mounted on the chassis using a mount. The customer requested that the third row of seats be removed and the second row be pushed back to create more space. The interior of this Bolero has undergone a complete redesign, featuring brown leatherette upholstery on the door pads and dashboard. The customised floor mats and roofliners match the leatherette seats. The SUV also includes external rollcage mounting points, which are visible in the video. Big Daddy Modifiers took approximately 4 months to complete this project, at an estimated cost of around Rs 5 lakh. The finished product does look a lot like the older generation Land Rover Defender. There are several workshops and garages and specifically work on SUVs in Punjab. This is one such garage and the final product does look like a Defender. The current generation Defender has quickly become popular among celebrities in India and many actors have already bought the same.
