CURATED Unearths The Hidden

Successor to the legendary Countach, the Lamborghini Diablo is a very important chapter in the history of Lamborghini’s flagship supercars, which is an especially poignant history to look back on this year as Lamborghini celebrates its 60th anniversary and the introduction of the Revuelto, its first plug-in hybrid flagship. However, this Diablo, resurfaced by CURATED, is different than any other. It is arguably the most important Lamborghini Diablo ever produced, the 1993 Lamborghini Diablo SE30 Prototipo #P0, celebrated in brochures, lauded at international auto shows, and splashed across the pages of countless magazines.

The SE30 Prototipo was originally used as a development car between 1992 and 1997, starting its life in 1992 as the X-L30 Prototipo, a vehicle of unique significance as it was created to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Lamborghini. This one-off model, designed by none other than the renowned Horacio Pagani, was presented to the world in September 1993, nearly 30 years ago at what is now the halfway point in Lamborghini’s history.

During its development, the Diablo Prototype became the first Lamborghini to be cloaked in the now-iconic Purple “Lambo Thirty” paintwork, a 30th-anniversary color that still decorates some of today’s Lamborghinis. This experimental machine also served as a testing ground for the implementation of numerous lightweight materials, marking it as a herald of innovation within the automotive industry.

According to an unpublished Lamborghini document from 1998, the Diablo SE30 Prototipo #P0 was believed to be one of the fastest Diablos ever to roar off the factory line. The document reveals that this remarkable vehicle boasted nearly 100hp more than the standard SE30, clocking in at an impressive 620hp. However, it wasn’t just the engine’s raw power that made the SE30 Prototipo stand out. Its distinctive features included a larger race fuel filler, unique carbon fiber door panels, a distinctive center console, and other exclusive interior components. It flaunted bespoke wheels, body panels, rear bumper, and trunk compartment.

But it didn’t stop there. The SE30 Prototipo also had full Lexan windows of a unique shape, a rarity even for high-performance cars. Rounding off the distinctive modifications were four-piston racing brakes and unique “Bleu” AC vents, contributing to the overall sense of uniqueness. Now, after almost two decades in hiding, this celebrated and influential Lamborghini Diablo has re-emerged. It stands as a testament to Lamborghini’s rich history, its commitment to innovation, and the unyielding spirit of automotive design. Today, as we appreciate the groundbreaking features and influential design of the SE30 Prototipo #P0, we are reminded once again of why Lamborghini continues to reign supreme in the world of high-performance automobiles.
