The Lucid Air Grand Touring Performance has a dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup that makes 1,050 horsepower, 30 hp more than the Model S Plaid, which has a tri-motor setup. But the latter was installed with the $20,000 Track Package option when it earned the title earlier this month.
Lucid Motors also offers a tri-motor option for the Air with the Sapphire trim, churning out a total output of over 1,200 hp. Since the more potent version has blacked-out trimmings, the one that arrived at Green Hell was a non-Sapphire trim as it went around the track with chrome trimmings.
The Porsche Taycan Turbo S is another high-performance EV keen to secure the Nurburgring title.
