It should come as no surprise to anyone that the South Korean carmaker Hyundai’s micro-SUV, the Exter, has immediately been pitted against its closest rival, the Tata Punch, in a drag race. Both models will now compete for the top spot in the micro-SUV segment. In order to outperform each other, both models are undergoing various tests by numerous YouTubers in the country. Recently, a video of the Hyundai Exter and Tata Punch racing each other in a drag race was shared online.

The drag race video featuring the Hyundai Exter vs. Tata Punch was uploaded on the Her Garage YouTube channel. The video begins with the presenter introducing both cars. She starts with the Hyundai Exter and mentions that the newest Hyundai SUV is equipped with a 1.2-liter petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 82 bhp and 114 Nm of torque. She then notes that the Tata Punch produces a maximum power of 86 bhp and 115 Nm of torque. Additionally, she highlights that the main difference between the two micro-SUVs is that the Exter has a four-cylinder engine, while the Punch has a three-cylinder engine.

Afterwards, the presenter states that they will now line up both SUVs and start the drag race. She takes a seat in the Hyundai Exter and explains that, for the first race, they will keep the cars at the same settings. She adds that, to ensure fairness, both cars have been brought with AMT automatic transmissions. The cars come to the starting line, and the presenter announces that they will keep the cars in automatic mode and with the air conditioner running. She further mentions that they will turn off the traction control.

Continuing, the presenter notes that the Exter does not have any drive modes, while the Punch offers City and Eco modes. She states that, for the races, they will keep the Punch in City mode. The first race begins, and with the third horn, the Exter launches off the line very quickly, creating a substantial gap. Eventually, the Punch catches up, and the Punch driver explains that the car did not launch properly in the first race.

Despite keeping the same settings, they line up for a second launch and race. This time, both cars get a good start, but the Exter leaves the Punch behind. For the third round, the presenter asks the Punch driver to put the car in manual mode. This time, the Punch gets a better start off the line, but the Exter easily surpasses it once it reaches 80 kmph.

They line up both cars for the fourth round, and this time, they turn off the air conditioners in both cars. Again, the Punch gets off the line quickly, but by the time it reaches 80 kmph, it falls behind the Exter. In the final round, the presenter and her driver take the seats in the Punch, and once again, the Punch gets off the line quickly but still loses to the Exter.
