Ferrari makes a memorable impression at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, unveiling a prestigious lineup of past, present, and future models, headlined by the awe-inspiring 499P Hypercar, a Le Mans champion.
As a central figure of the 30th Goodwood Festival, which runs from 13th to 16th July in Chichester, UK, the Ferrari 499P Hypercar stands as an embodiment of the Maranello company’s enduring success. The 499P, which boasts a victorious track record, including the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans and five podiums in the FIA WEC 2023, will be on static display alongside other significant vehicles that have etched their names into Ferrari’s rich heritage. Its introduction marked Ferrari’s return to top-class endurance racing for the first time since 1973, 50 long years ago, and its return also meant its total victory.
The 499P’s appearance at Goodwood marks its debut to the British public. Adorned in red with yellow stripes and detailing, the hypercar is a tribute to the 312 PB that competed in the early 1970s. It is the crown jewel of an exhibition honoring Ferrari’s illustrious history in endurance racing. Besides the 499P, the Ferrari – AF Corse team also brings star power in the form of three official drivers – Britain’s James Calado, Italy’s Antonio Giovinazzi, and Spain’s Miguel Molina. Together, they have carved out memorable narratives in the World Championship and Monza 6 Hours races, ensuring Ferrari’s dominance in endurance racing.
Adding further intrigue, the public will have the opportunity to marvel at the 24 Hours of Le Mans winner and the imposing trophy awarded to the winning manufacturer in the centenary edition. The colossal 5-foot-tall and 150-pound bronze cup represents a crowning addition to Ferrari’s illustrious trophy cabinet.
Ferrari’s showcase extends beyond the 499P. The ‘Ferrari Le Mans Cars’ area will feature six historic racing cars, including the 166 MM, the first Ferrari to win at Le Mans in 1949, two Ferrari 250 TRs, the 275 P, the Ferrari 512 S prototype, and the 1979 512 BB LM.
Rounding out the display is a comprehensive assortment from Ferrari’s road car range, such as the ultra-exclusive Daytona SP3, SF90 Spider, 812 Competizione, 296 GTS, and the Ferrari Roma. Among these, the Ferrari SF90 Stradale, wearing the Le Mans livery, stands out. This hybrid super sports car flaunts a 780 bhp V8 paired with a triple electric unit producing an additional 220 bhp.
In a testament to the breadth of its innovation and the depth of its heritage, Ferrari’s stellar lineup at the Goodwood Festival of Speed reaffirms the iconic automaker’s position at the pinnacle of motoring excellence.
