Bentley Unveils Bentayga EWB Mulliner As Its Most Luxurious SUV

Within Bentley’s lineup, “Mulliner” represents the most luxurious version of a given model. Previously, the carmaker introduced the Flying Spur Mulliner, Continental GT Mulliner, and Continental GTC Mulliner. Today it completes the set with the Bentayga EWB Mulliner, which, as its name suggests, is based on the extended wheelbase variant of the SUV.

We’ve tested the EWB quite extensively, first in Vancouver, Canada, then through Southern California, and of the many trims offered, it’s our favorite. Thus it makes sense to push this already plush SUV to even higher levels by making its best features come standard, incorporating new interior materials, and offering more customization options than ever.

Engine Twin-Turbocharged 4.0-Liter V8
Output 542 Horsepower / 568 Pound-Feet
0-60 MPH 4.5 Seconds
Top Speed 180 MPH

Externally, the EWB Mulliner has a unique set of 22-inch wheels, a “double diamond” front grille, updated fender vents, and self-leveling wheel caps. The SUV above sports the Blackline Specification, which darkens the EWB’s exterior trim, wheels, and badges for a sportier look.

You’ll find the most extensive changes inside as the Mulliner offers eight tri-tone interior options as standard, blending well-known shades to give the Mulliner’s interior a distinct aesthetic. However, should you want to create your own color combo, Bentley estimates there are 4,000 possible configurations available.

Aside from offering new colors, the leather itself is different, as the carmaker will use olive tan leather. According to Bentley, this material is tanned using an organic by-product of the olive oil industry. It requires a technique that utilizes less water during the process, making it more sustainable.

The Mulliner’s deep pile carpets are made of pure wool and are now thicker than ever. These combine with updated trim offerings for its dashboard and door cards. Its seats feature a new diamond-stitch pattern that incorporates lines in alternating colors along with the Mulliner name embroidered on the backrest.

Its door cars feature Bentley’s Diamond Illumination, which combines LEDs that emit colors through perforations found in the diamond-stitched leather. These illuminate the cabin and can further accentuate the tri-tone interior color.

A Mulliner-specific clock lives in the dash, flanked by two chrome air vents. It features a silver face and a knurled bezel, design elements that make their way to the SUV’s digital cluster, setting it apart from other trim levels.

On the hardware side, the Mulliner gets many of the EBW’s options as standard, including its Airline seat. This reclining rear chair aims to deliver the experience of a business-class seat found on airliners. This range-topping Bentayga is available in a four or four-plus-one-seat configuration, each available with the upgraded rear seat. Auto climate and postural adjustment functions come standard.

Under its hood lives the same twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 that powers the EWB and is its only engine option. It’s good for 542 horsepower and 568 pound-feet. The Mulliner will sprint to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds and top out at 180 mph, making it properly quick. Like the standard EWB, the Mulliner benefits from the same all-wheel steering system, and dynamic ride control, which give the Bentayga its sporty persona.

While the Mulliner debuts today, Bentley has yet to share when deliveries are expected to commence or how much its new flagship SUV will cost.
