The team immediately took the 0854 to compete at the World Sportscar Championship, entering races such as the 1,000 Kilometers (621 miles) of Spa and 24 Hours of Le Mans. It also secured wins at the 1968 Nuremberg 200 km (124 miles), the Solituderennen at Hockenheim, and the Swedish Grand Prix.
In 1968, Hoare decided to withdraw his team due to “adverse regulation changes”, and racing driver David Piper acquired the 412P. However, it did not take long before he sold the car to a US owner, Chris Cord of Philadelphia, in 1969.
Since then, the ownership has been passed to several proprietors in Japan and the United Kingdom. In 2005, the previous owner restored the 412P to its 1967 form, bringing back the original bodywork, including the numbered expansive tail section and doors.
