The Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge is a competition that celebrates Porsche’s 75-year history by calling its dealerships to find a classic Porsche in need of TLC, and revive it with homage to the car’s important legacy and excellence. With new rules and expanded competition categories, the 2023 Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge is more anticipated than ever, and Porsche South Orlando in Orlando, Florida has unveiled its contender, an ode to Porsche’s performance legacy.
It’s based on a 1997 Porsche 911 Carrera, a Porsche 911 from the second to last year that the Porsche 911 had an air-cooled engine, making it a cherished model among purist Porsche enthusiasts. However, what makes this restoration even more unique is that it was given an “RSR Tribute” configuration. With that configuration, it will enter the Individualization category of the competition.
The restoration project brought together a team from the dealership to create the incredible car, which is described as an “RS Clubsport with a GT2 widebody” akin to an RSR. The final product is a combination of the entire team’s dedication, expertise, and passion for Porsche and its history. With a Riviera Blue exterior, and an interior that features black leather and Alcantara with red stitching, it’s a beautiful homage to Porsche’s three-quarters of a century of history.
