Having debuted in America last summer, the Mercedes-Benz EQB will get a number of upgrades for 2024 when it arrives at U.S. dealerships first half next year.
First and foremost, the EQB aesthetically catches up to its electric stablemates thanks to a freshly designed black panel surface with its star pattern that smartly contemporizes its appearance. A new bumper emphasizes the vehicle’s width, while a light band visually joins the daytime running lights. The taillights have also been revised.
Inside, the EQB is updated with the latest Mercedes-Benz steering wheel with touch-sensitive controls on its spokes.
As before, the EQB offers standard seating for five or optionally for seven.
Updated technology
The 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQB also gets updated charging technology with the addition of Mercedes me Charge Plug & Charge functionality. This allows the EQB to the begin charging procedure begins automatically as soon as the charging cable is plugged in. Through the charging cable, the vehicle and charging station can talk to one another without the need for customers to confirm information before charging begins.
Two “sound experiences” that simulate the car accelerating and decelerating were also added, but to get them, you must opt for the available Burmester surround-sound system that includes Dolby Atmos.
Mercedes-Benz also endowed the 2024 EQB with an updated version of the MBUX infotainment system. It now comes with three visual styles — subtle, sporty, or classic— and three modes — navigation, assistance, or service — that allow for modifying the displays’ appearance.
The 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQB also comes fitted with a new multipurpose camera as well as a new backup camera and improved sensors.
As you might expect, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard.
Drive time
While there have been a number of detail changes, the 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQB’s powertrains carry over unchanged, all of them powered by a 70.5-kWh battery that has a maximum charging rate of 9.6 kW using AC power and 100 kW using DC power.
The entry level version of this compact electric SUV is the front-wheel drive EQB 250+, generating 188 horsepower, and 284 pound-feet of torque, an estimated 245 miles of range, and a 0-60 mph time of 8 seconds.
Next is the all-wheel-drive EQB 300 4Matic, with 225 hp, 288 lb-ft of torque, 232 miles of range, and a 0-60 mph time of 7 seconds. Finally, there’s the all-wheel-drive EQB 350 4Matic, boasting 288 hp, 384 lb-ft of torque, 221 miles of range, and a 0-60 mph time of 6 seconds.
Mercedes-Benz didn’t announce pricing, but the 2023 models start at $52,750 for the EQB 250+, $56,900 for the EQB 300 4Matic, and $60,550 for the EQB 350 4Matic before destination charge, options and sales tax. In addition, each model is offered in three ascending trim levels, Premium, Exclusive and Pinnacle, with the final two trims adding to the prices shown.
