It seems Ferrari Formula 1 drivers just can’t catch a break, as Carlos Sainz was reportedly robbed hours after his brilliant podium finish at the 2023 Italian Grand Prix. Per motorsport.com, the Spanish racing driver was wearing a Richard Mille Alexander Zverev worth $345,000, which is quite normal for an F1 driver. It’s likely the same watch he was wearing during the podium ceremony.
Richard Mille is one of Ferrari’s main sponsors, and its watches are aimed at high-end shoppers. The world’s thinnest watch, the Richard Mille UP01, makes Sainz’s piece look like it was made for peasants.
According to the report, three men were waiting for Sainz outside his hotel in Milan, possibly posing as autograph hunters. The men then stole the watch, and Sainz and his personal trainer set off after the miscreants.
