Tata cars are known for their build quality. It is one of the reasons why the manufacturer has gained popularity among buyers. There have been several instances where people have miraculously escaped major accidents only because they were in a Tata Motors car. We have seen several examples of Tata Tiago, Harrier, and Nexon SUVs crashing into other cars or getting involved in accidents. It is not just the new models, but also the older models were built well. Here, we have an incident that proves the same. A speeding Tata Hexa crashes into a truck on a highway, and passengers escape with minor injuries.
The video has been uploaded by Prateek Singh on his YouTube channel. The accident happened somewhere in Odisha on the national highway. According to the video, the National Highway Authority was performing maintenance work on the four-lane highway. Two of the lanes were closed, and traffic was diverted through the opposite lane. Due to the highway work, the Hexa driver was forced to drive on the opposite side of the road. It appears that the Hexa driver was not driving carefully.
The exact reason behind the crash is not known, but looking at the pictures, it is clear that the Hexa driver crashed into the truck coming from the opposite side. The front of the Tata Hexa is actually squeezed under the truck. The driver-side A-pillar is bent, and the door is also damaged. The bonnet, bumper, along with the headlamps, are all damaged. It seems the owner had installed a bull bar at the front, and even the bull bar had bent into the body of the car.
The truck had minor damage at the front. Apart from the damage to the front, everything else on this SUV appears to be in place. Even the cabin of this MPV looks intact. The roof did not crumble, and the airbags in this SUV also deployed on time. It is not clear whether the Hexa driver was trying to overtake another vehicle or was driving recklessly on the wrong side of the highway, leading to this accident. The occupants in the car escaped the accident with minor injuries.
This is not the first time we have come across a Tata Hexa accident. In 2021, the famous ghazal singer Imthiyas Beegum shared pictures of her accident in a Tata Hexa. The car lost traction while trying to overtake and went out of control. The car then crashed into a lorry parked on the roadside. The singer and her daughter walked out safely from the accident and thanked Tata for its build quality.
The Tata Hexa was actually a very spacious and value-for-money MPV, which even came with a 4WD option in the higher variants. Many customers were not happy when Tata discontinued it due to BS6 emission norms. The Hexa came with a 2.2-litre VARICOR diesel engine. The lower variant of the Hexa generated 150 PS and 320 Nm of peak torque. The same engine produced 156 PS of maximum power and 400 Nm of peak torque in the higher variants. It was available with both manual and automatic transmissions.
