Narain Karthikeyan, India’s first Formula One driver, retired a long time ago. We hardly think there is anyone who would not know about Narain. Although he does not officially race, he is quite active on social media and is often seen in various track day videos. A few years ago, a video of Narain went viral on the internet where he was seen offering to help author Chetan Bhagat by giving him a ride to the airport in a Porsche 911 GT3 sports car. This time, we have another video where Narain is seen speaking about his experience after buying a Mercedes-Benz C-Class luxury sedan.
The video has been shared by Mercedes-Benz India on their YouTube channel. Narain Karthikeyan is seen standing next to his Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan. The car seen in the video belongs to the current generation. The video is actually a conversation with the legendary F1 driver about his experience with the brand and the car. Narain can be heard saying that the buying experience was amazing as the dealerships have redone the interiors, and they look a lot more welcoming than before. He was accompanied by his kid, who also had a great time.
He also explains the reason why he chose the C-Class over the others in this segment. The C-Class offered him the best of both worlds, with premium luxury interiors and a very comfortable ride. The level of comfort that the new C-Class offers is excellent for a driver’s car. He also likes the aggressive styling and the AMG kit that Mercedes-Benz offers with the C-Class. The video doesn’t mention the exact variant, but by the way Narain is speaking, it looks like he owns the C300d variant.

The C 300d is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine that generates 261 Bhp and 550 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 9G tronic transmission and, just like many modern-day Mercedes-Benz models, it also comes with a mild hybrid system. Narain often drives the car from Coimbatore to Bangalore and back. He really appreciates the fact that the C-Class is fast and does not compromise on performance. Narain always drives his car in Sport mode only because the car’s behavior changes, and it is a lot more responsive, which is something you need on a long journey. The price for the C 300d version of the C-Class is Rs 66 lakh, ex-showroom.
In addition to the newly bought C-Class sedan, Narain also owns several other cars. Narain Karthikeyan bought a Porsche 911 GT3 back in 2018. Back then, he was one of the first high-profile buyers of this supercar in India. The cost of the Porsche 911 GT3 is over 3 crores. The Porsche that Narain owns is different from the regular version as he has added some extras. He loves the GT3 so much because he feels that it is one of the best track-oriented road cars one can buy.
