If that’s the case, we can expect more than 640 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. We know that the 911 hybrid won’t adopt a plug-in hybrid setup, even as the country sets about electrifying its entire lineup. While traditionalists may not be pleased with this move, they can relax in the knowledge that there are no immediate plans for a fully electric 911.

Last year, a company official said there’s still strong demand for gasoline-powered sports cars. “We have a bold strategy for electric cars, and we are [taking] bold steps, big steps with electrification. But we also must look at the market and customer needs,” said Frank-Steffen Walliser.

Porsche says that an electric 911 is at least a decade away because current technology doesn’t allow the company to create a worthy battery-powered 911. Battery weight and platform space are currently the most significant issues.
