We’d be remiss not to mention that the Forester is being offered in Europe with the hybrid e-Boxer powertrain, first introduced in 2019.
While no powertrain details were disclosed, a hybridized Forester would reinforce previous rumors that the new-generation crossover could get electrified – albeit the rumor of getting its power unit from Toyota remains unconfirmed, though it isn’t far-fetched. After all, the two brands have been working on strengthening each other’s lineup, delivering models like the 86/BRZ and bZ4x/Solterra.
A hybridized Subaru Forester should also improve its performance and fuel efficiency, making it a more enticing buy in its respective market. It would compete against the likes of the Toyota RAV4, Ford Escape, and Honda CR-V, all of which are already available with a hybrid powertrain.
