Upgrading to the SEL trim brings a larger 64.8 kWh battery pack, delivering up to 261 miles of range. This version produces 201 hp with the same amount of torque. The Level 2 charge speed is around six hours and 14 minutes on this model, but the DC fast-charge speed remains the same. Pricing for the SEL starts at $36,675, which may be worth the $4,000 upgrade for the increase in power and range alone. Hyundai has not posted a configurator yet, but we assume the SEL comes with other important features besides the performance boost.

Lastly, the Limited trim adds more luxury features, starting at $41,045. For reference, the Kona Electric’s Kia sibling, the Niro EV, starts at $39,600 in Wind trim and goes up to $44,600 for the Wave trim. In the Kia’s defense, it does come with the larger battery and higher output motor as standard.
