Millions Of Toyota And Lexus Vehicles Getting Recalled For Malfunctioning Airbags

According to the Japanese automaker, the production line could’ve improperly manufactured Occupant Classification System (OCS) sensors in the front passenger seat, which could lead to a short circuit. If that happens, the airbag may not deploy, which, in the case of an accident, is a life-threatening issue.

If faulty OCS sensors are found, Toyota and Lexus dealers will replace them at no cost.

Meanwhile, approximately 12,600 2022-2023 Corolla Cross units could have a similar problem. In this case, though, the front passenger airbag may not deploy due to a manufacturing error in the instrument panel. Again, airbags not deploying is just as serious as inflators rupturing.
