McLaren Reveals the Gorgeous GTS, a 626-HP Replacement for the GT

  • McLaren revealed a new model called the GTS, which is essentially a facelifted version of the GT.
  • The 2025 McLaren GTS features the same twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8, but now with 626 horsepower, a 14-hp bump.
  • There are also new colors, wheels, and interior trim options.

McLaren doesn’t usually deviate far from its carefully considered supercar formula, so the renaming of the GT to GTS for 2025 counts as a big deal. Despite its new moniker, the car’s mission remains the same as before: to offer slightly more luxury content than the more hard-core 750S, while still retaining an impressive level of performance. To that end, it receives a visual update, new interior trim options, and some extra grunt for its twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 engine.

The V-8 in the new GTS now produces 626 horsepower, a 14-hp bump from the GT, and the same 465 pound-feet of torque. McLaren claims that the new car is 22 pounds lighter than before, which should result in a slight performance improvement. The company claims a 60 mph run of 3.1 seconds, but we’re sure it will be quicker than that given that the old GT got to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds in our testing.

The GT was already quite pretty for a supercar, and the GTS looks even better thanks to a reshaped front bumper and slight changes to the rear fenders. There’s also more gloss-black trim, plus new wheel options including the stunning 10-spoke “turbine” wheels pictured here. New colors include Mantis Green, Tanzanite Blue, Ice White, and Lava Gray. McLaren also says that the visual changes are functional, with the larger front air intakes and the resculpted rear end allowing more air to get in to the radiator and the engine.

On the practicality front, the surprisingly generous rear cargo area remains, as does the small frunk. McLaren says it has improved the front axle-lift system, meaning it’s able to raise the nose of the car significantly more quickly than before. New interior trim includes aniline leather and Alcantara, and the seats feature a new piping pattern.

McLaren says that deliveries will begin in 2024, but has not yet announced pricing for the GTS. Given its numerous improvements over the GT, we think it will start well above $210,000, rising far higher than that once you start customizing it with all sorts of desirable options.
