Put your handkerchief away and save those tears. It’s not time to say farewell to the Ram 1500 Classic quite yet. The new-yet-old pickup has been hanging around since 2009, when it first arrived as the DS-generation Ram 1500, and we now know the Classic will return for the 2024 model year.
The Classic will be offered in two trim levels and features a starting price that has risen considerably compared to the 2023 model. The cheaper Tradesman now starts at $40,700 while the Warlock carries a starting price of $45,430. That’s a $6460 increase compared to the $34,240 starting price of the 2023 1500 Classic, and it only represents $415 in savings compared to the new-generation 2024 model.
As for engines, the 3.6-liter V-6 and 5.7-liter V-8 engine options are back and send power through an eight-speed automatic transmission. Inside the truck, you’ll be stuck with an old-school 7.0-inch touchscreen, a far cry from the newer Ram’s available 12.0-inch center touchscreen. But if you’re a traditionalist, you might enjoy the plethora of physical buttons and knobs in the Classic’s cabin.
Now that the facelifted 2025 Ram 1500 is set to go on sale, it’s likely that this is the final year of the 1500 Classic. We’ll be sad to see it go, but the fact that there aren’t any real cost savings anymore compared with the newer-generation truck may lessen the blow.
