“Where there’s a will, there’s a way.” We’ve seen several examples where people have converted the backs of their SUVs and MPVs into campervans. People often choose cars and SUVs with spacious interiors for such projects. In most cases, they opt for these cars because they’re easier to customize and have decent ground clearance compared to other vehicles. While we’ve featured several campervans on our website, we have a video showcasing a Maruti Suzuki Swift converted into a caravan.

The video was uploaded by Beghar Parindey on their YouTube channel. In it, the vlogger introduces us to a family that takes small road trips and camping excursions in their car, which they’ve customized for this purpose. The car in question is a 2020 model Maruti Swift hatchback. It’s not the most spacious car on the market, but the family has managed to make things work within the limited space.

The vlogger expresses surprise at how a family of three can fit or even sleep properly inside the car. Due to space limitations, they have an external kitchen setup with an awning for cooking and relaxing. The washroom and bathing area are also outside the vehicle for the same reason. The rear seat of the car is folded to create space for the bed, and they’ve placed a custom-made mattress inside the cabin to accommodate three people.

The occupants mention that this isn’t the most comfortable sleeping arrangement, but they’ve gotten used to it over time. The car also has a hidden compartment under the mattress where they store groceries. They usually carry groceries for a couple of days, and this is the first time they’ve gone on a week-long trip.

As they own a small car, they hadn’t previously considered long road or camping trips. They mention that all the items currently outside the car neatly fit inside the boot, and with the seats up, there’s still enough space in the rear to make a mini bed for their son. They carry 5-10 liter water jugs for drinking water and a jerry can filled with water for other purposes. The family does admit that they have to make some adjustments and make arrangements to ensure that fit perfectly within the limited space in the cabin. For electricity, the family carries a small car inverter that charges when the car is in motion; when they camp, they use the inverter to power their small appliances like laptops, phones, and lights. The video even shows how the bedding area looks after the occupants get in. This is probably the first time we’ve seen someone convert a hatchback like the Maruti Swift into a campervan. It might not be the most practical thing to do, but they’ve made it possible. We really hope the family explores more part of the country in their small camper car and also get an opportunity to upgrade to a bigger car where they can customise the cabin even more. As we wrote in the beginning, where there is a will, there is a way.
