Supportive racing seats from Bride have been repurposed for both models, while the seatbelts and seatbelt pads have been fashioned out of recycled textiles. A roll cage stiffens the vehicle and provides additional protection in a crash.

A hydrogen version of the 4A-GE 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine powers the other AE86. While emissions have been significantly reduced, customers would, in theory, be able to enjoy the thrills and sounds associated with a combustion engine without worrying about the environmental impact.

Toyota has long been a proponent of hydrogen technology, has invested heavily in several concepts, and has trialed hydrogen combustion propulsion in motorsport settings. This diversity showcases the brand’s multi-pronged approach to sustainable mobility.

Perhaps someday soon, we will see conversion kits like this made available for classic Toyota vehicles.
