Elegant Genesis X Snow Speedium Concept Takes On Winter

  • Genesis published images this week of the X Snow Speedium concept, a wintry take on the X Speedium Coupe first shown in 2022.
  • The concept features a white paint job and a roof rack with thin LED lights and a set of skis.
  • The X concept is rumored to be headed towards production in coupe and convertible form.

Over the past week, much of the United States has been enveloped in winter storms. While the icy roads can become dangerous, the snow-covered landscape also provides the opportunity for practicing car control while having some sideways fun—in a safe and controlled environment, of course. Genesis has fully embraced this mentality, showing photos of the X Snow Speedium, a version of its slinky concept from 2022 reimagined for the wintry months.

There aren’t a whole lot of details about the X Snow Speedium concept, but the images certainly are stunning. The vehicle is based on the X Speedium Coupe concept, itself a follow-up to the original 2021 X concept that was later converted into a droptop for the 2022 Los Angeles auto show.

The Snow edition sports a thin roof rack with integrated LED lights on the front and rear. Genesis says the skis were created by Swiss ski manufacturer Anavon Ski AG to “pair perfectly” with the car. There’s also a set of fog lamps hidden in the intakes in the front bumper, while the wheels sport a simpler five-spoke design than those on the original concept. The images purport to show the X Snow Speedium driving on snow-covered roads in Davos, Switzerland, although these appear to be digitally rendered and not real photos.

While Genesis has publicly said that the trio of X concepts aren’t destined for production—instead previewing the brand’s future design language—rumors have swirled that the electric coupe could actually reach showroom floors as a flagship model. Reports suggest that Genesis chief creative officer Luc Donckerwolke already told dealers that the convertible is on the way, but we’ll probably have to wait at least a couple more years before we know if this rumor becomes reality.
