The build quality of cars is a major factor that customers are considering lately. Cars from brands like Tata and Mahindra often make headlines after passengers walk away from serious accidents with only minor injuries. Here we have a video where a Toyota Hyryder SUV rear-ended a Tata Nexon. The result of the crash is actually surprising and that is one of the reasons why we have featured it here.
The video has been shared by Prateek Singh on his YouTube channel. In most accidents involving Tata cars, we’ve seen that Tata cars have less damage. However, in this video, the tables have turned. The accident happened somewhere in Maharashtra. The video was recorded on the dashcam of the Toyota Hyryder. We can see a Tata Nexon moving in front of the Hyryder. Both these vehicles approach a cut to take a U-turn.
The Nexon is the first to take the turn and the Hyryder follows it. After taking the turn, there was a traffic signal and the vehicles in front had stopped. The Tata Nexon driver also slowed down and came to a stop. The Toyota Hyryder driver, on the other hand, was actually distracted by another car that was taking a turn behind his vehicle and was dangerously close. While checking the vehicle behind him, he completely forgot about the car that had stopped in front of him.
By the time the Toyota Hyryder driver noticed the Nexon, it was too late. He did apply brakes but the car crashed into the rear bumper of the Nexon anyway. Normally, in accidents where a Tata Nexon is rear-ended, we have seen that the vehicle hitting from the rear gets damaged more. In this case, however, the owner mentions that his Toyota Hyryder was safe and didn’t have any damage at all. He even shared an image of the front of the SUV. He mentions that only the bonnet of the SUV had minor scratches and other than that, everything else was normal with his vehicle.
The Tata Nexon, on the other hand, got a dent on the tailgate. The dent was very evident and the results are actually surprising. We feel that even the Hyryder and Nexon drivers were also surprised after seeing the result. It should be noted that this doesn’t prove anything about the build quality of these vehicles. Both Toyota and Tata have manufactured vehicles in such a manner that they pass Indian regulations. Both these vehicles are safe in their own ways.
It was probably an unlucky day for the Nexon driver that he got a dent on his tailgate. The Nexon also crashed into a Toyota Innova that had stopped in front of their vehicle. Even the tailgate of the Innova Crysta got a dent after the impact. The video was shared by the Hyryder owner, so we don’t know how the front of the Tata Nexon would have looked like. The Toyota Hyryder is the entry-level SUV from the Japanese car manufacturer in India. It was jointly developed with Suzuki under their partnership. We also have Maruti’s version of the Hyryder under the name Grand Vitara. Both these SUVs are available with a 1.5-liter mild hybrid engine and a 1.5-liter strong hybrid engine.
