The acceleration metrics highlighted above are achieved when using Launch Control, but McLaren has also added something called ‘Spinning Wheel Pull-Away’ – that’s ‘burnout mode’ in layman’s terms and lets the driver engage in “dramatic wheelspin when accelerating from standstill with a large throttle load.”

There are other mechanical upgrades, though, like new powertrain mounts to reduce engine and transmission movement within the chassis under high cornering or accelerating loads, creating more stability and better driver engagement and feedback.

Further enhancements have been made to the suspension with revised damper valving, with increased damping and handling response rates (up to 90% quicker) for the Domain Control Units in the built-in ethernet architecture.

Primary suspension modes are limited to three: Comfort, Sport, and Track – accessible via rocker switches on the side of the instrument binnacle. Beyond this, the ESC can be set to either on, off, or Dynamic, the latter of which grants access to Variable Drift Control.
