The new Speedmaster Moonwatch makes a triumphant landing.

Omega has once again soared past expectations with the unveiling of its latest edition Speedmaster Moonwatch, shedding a new light on the world’s most iconic chronograph watch. This time, the Speedmaster comes with a lacquered white dial, Omega’s nod to the infinite stretch of space and the renowned history of the Moonwatch collection itself. The popularity around the release has been building since November 2023, when OMEGA brand ambassador Daniel Craig was seen sporting the first edition at the Planet OMEGA Exhibition in New York. The new Moonwatch iteration stands out with its rare white dial, an homage to the original Speedmaster’s design philosophy of readability and legibility, displayed through high-contrast detailing by the watchmakers. This iteration reverses the classic color scheme but maintains the same clarity, upgraded with black highlights, new applied indexes, and a glossy lacquered finish, a first for the Moonwatch’s iconic dial.

The choice of white draws inspiration from astronaut spacesuits worn during spacewalks, echoing the watch’s authentic space heritage. Since 1965, the Speedmaster Moonwatch has been a staple on NASA missions and made history as the first watch on the Moon. The addition of red tips its hat to the commander’s rank symbol and the protective case of the ALASKA I prototype watch. Inside, the watch is powered by the Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 3861, an update of the legendary Calibre 321. The 42 mm stainless steel watch comes on a vintage-inspired bracelet and is available in variations that include a black micro-perforated leather strap and an anti-bacterial rubber strap with a moon surface texture. For collectors and enthusiasts, the new Speedmaster Moonwatch is a piece of history, a symbol of exploration, and an example of OMEGA’s participation in both watchmaking and space exploration.
