This isn’t the first time a rumor about the FJ Cruiser’s return has surfaced. Last year, a trademark filing for the Land Cruiser FJ name was discovered. Meanwhile, a Toyota FJ Cruiser EV Concept (shown in this article) was revealed in 2022, which hinted at the nameplate’s return as an electric off-roader.
Nothing is certain at this point, but given the flexibility of the IMV 0, we’re not surprised Toyota wants to develop more vehicles on this ladder-frame platform to maximize the value of its investment. Another uncertainty lies in whether this so-called FJ Cruiser revival will reach the US to slot below the Land Cruiser.
Only time will tell, and that will allegedly happen by the end of the year, the expected launch timeline of the IMV 0-based SUV.
