Following the 2025 GT-R’s announcement this week, the automaker’s North American arm has introduced two special edition Nissan GT-R sports coupes for the 2024 model year. The two new models will be limited in production, offering varying takes on the aging nameplate with a subtle nod to the past.
Called the GT-R T-spec Takumi Edition and GT-R Skyline Edition, these two special versions of Godzilla will be produced in “very limited numbers” and are expected to arrive at Nissan dealers in the US in the summer. The prices, however, will be announced later, but they should be higher than the 2024 GT-R, which starts at over $120,000.
Honoring The Takumi Masters
The 2024 GT-R T-spec Takumi Edition looks distinct with its Midnight Purple paint color, referencing the iconic Skyline GT-R special edition models of yesteryear – some existing examples even selling for serious bucks. The interior comes with a unique Mori Green theme, as well.
Under the hood, this special edition GT-R honors the Takumi Masters or craftsmen who hand-assemble the VR38DETT V6 engine. To do this, the VIN plate inside the engine bay will be in gold, while the engine badge will have red-etched writing that represents the increased level of attention to precise engine tolerances and component balancing during assembly.

The Bayside Blue Returns
Apart from the details inside the engine bay, the GT-R T-spec Takumi Edition receives mechanical enhancements, too, such as GT-R NISMO carbon-ceramic brakes, a gold-painted version of the NISMO’s Rays 20-inch forged wheels, NISMO-tuned Vehicle Dynamic Control, and wider front fenders.
Meanwhile, the 2024 GT-R Skyline Edition wears a familiar hue – the Bayside Blue paint color that was retired with the R34-generation GT-R and returned with the 50th Anniversary Edition model in 2019. Based on the GT-R Premium, the interior of the Skyline Edition is also cool to the eyes with its Sora Blue interior color scheme.
