This April 18-19, Carlisle Auctions seeks to inspire those classic car souls with the sale of perhaps the most esteemed vehicle—not just a car, it’s a time capsule, a work of art, and a testament to all that great American engineering still has to offer.

This 1953 Corvette is not only beautiful with its pristine white exterior and red interior, but it also retains the original VIN tag, body, and frame, setting it apart from most classic cars that have been reassembled or restored. It is equipped with a correct numbers-matching Blue Flame 6-cylinder engine.

What makes this Corvette unique, however, is the quality of its restoration, which goes beyond mere historical value and is evident everywhere. The restoration and high-quality paintwork on the body are top-notch, but what really stands out is how the brushwork and use of metallic pigments on the body and cabin evoke the feel of a precise, high-budget concept car. This Corvette feels like it has been lovingly reborn but has enjoyed some time in Dr. Moreau’s clinic to give it a truly show-quality sheen. The louvered trunk lid with its neat little factory-integrated antenna is a testament to the care that has gone into its restoration.

The stainless brightwork, down to the windshield wiper arms, is absolutely beautiful in fit and finish, all correct, and indicative of the level of detail. The interior is all new, done professionally and correctly, as is everything else—the gauges are all original and most have been restored, including the radio. In fact, this Corvette features a parking brake alarm.

Everything, down to the correct Carter carburetors in the engine compartment of this 1953 Corvette, has been rebuilt for presentation to proper factory specifications. The car’s restoration embodies the right and only way to do the work.

This is an opportunity to acquire a piece of American automotive history, a rolling profile of what its era was all about, a chance to be a steward of the story that began on that assembly line in 1953, lot #98, and continues to inspire and fascinate. The auction starts at 12 PM each day, with the ’53 slated to cross the block on the afternoon of April 19. Carlisle Auctions offers three convenient ways to bid too, including in person, on the phone, or online.

Best of all, the auction takes place in conjunction with the world’s largest automotive flea market, Spring Carlisle (April 17-21) at the neighboring Carlisle PA Fairgrounds.  Spring Carlisle hosts 8,100 vending spaces filled by thousands of vendors, selling millions of automotive parts, merchandise, collectibles, and even classic cars for sale in the car corral.
