Ford has just opened the order application process for the limited-edition Mustang GTD, but only for prospective buyers in the United States and Canada. European, Middle Eastern, and Mexican customers will get their opportunity in June. Unfortunately, Ford still isn’t revealing how many will be produced, exactly what each will cost, or what the regional split might be. All we know is that it will be highly limited and come at a cost of “approximately $300,000.”
Ford doesn’t normally vet its customers, but when the car in question is a special-edition supercar built in limited numbers by Multimatic, like the Ford GT, the Blue Oval wants only the truest of Ford fans to be associated.
A Special Supercar
The Mustang GTD was developed alongside the Mustang GT3 racecar, but unlike that car, it has no limits on engine performance, aerodynamic manipulation, suspension design, or weight reduction measures, which means a more extreme car – despite the license plates. We’re talking about a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 producing in the region of 800 horsepower, a dual-clutch transaxle, and pushrod suspension.

GTD Customers Get A Concierge Service
Customers will be able to order their GTD from whichever dealer they choose. Dealers lucky enough to be involved with the process will reportedly provide a specialized concierge service to these esteemed buyers. These dealers will each be paid $15,000 by Ford on completion of successful delivery, presumably to assist them in tending to customers’ needs. Unfortunately, it appears that markups may still be possible, so if you get the chance to buy a GTD, be prepared to spend a lot more than $300k.
