Safety Features And Performance
The CLE-Class Cabriolet is the first Mercedes-Benz drop-top with two separate head airbags for the rear passengers. The vehicle has a total of 11 airbags, including one between the two front seats. As a reminder, the CLE 300 4Matic is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter, four-cylinder that develops 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. The 450 4Matic receives a silky-smooth 3.0-liter inline-six with 375 hp and 369 lb-ft. Both models send power to all four wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission. The 450 reaches 60 mph in 4.2 seconds, with the 300 following two seconds later, but their top speeds are identical, at a limited 130 mph. Craving more power? Don’t fret, because an AMG-tuned CLE 53 is on the way. The CLE-Class Cabriolet will reach Mercedes-Benz dealers in the spring. All CLE pricing mentioned above does not include the automaker’s $1,150 destination charge.
