Mercedes-Benz C-Class And GLC Get New Colors, Enhanced MBUX, And Optional Leather-Free Cabin

Key Takeaways

  • Mercedes-Benz C-Class and GLC get new Manufaktur paint finishes and a leather-free interior option.
  • MBUX system receives enhanced features, including available third-party apps and AI-assisted automated features.
  • The GLC is now available with a digital key.

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class and GLC-Class have received minor updates, with the best-selling Benzes receiving new paint colors, additional interior options, and enhanced in-car technology. The sedan and crossover are now available with Manufaktur Alpine Gray Uni paint, while Verde Silver Metallic (also available on the updated S-Class) can be specified for the GLC.

Inside, eco-conscious consumers can now opt for a leather-free cabin with a new non-leather steering wheel cover for both models. An increasing number of consumers are going for leather alternatives, so it’s a clever move for Mercedes to offer this for the C-Class and GLC. Most of the changes pertain to the MBUX infotainment system.

More Features For MBUX System

Customers can now install various third-party apps, allowing for in-car gaming, video streaming, travel planning, and more. Apps are available via the Mercedes me Store. The automaker says it has redesigned the main icons on the display screen with small smartphone-like tiles for a more intuitive experience, and the MBUX setup has seen improvements to the automated convenience features through the magic of artificial intelligence, operated via the central display.

Customers can now create unique templates to suit their needs. Mercedes lists several examples, including “Cold Days,” which automatically switches on the seat heating at certain temperatures, and “Date Night,” where the MBUX system changes the ambient interior lighting to pink and plays romantic music. Mercedes says it is possible to combine more than one function. The seat heating can automatically switch on at 55 degrees Fahrenheit and create a warm interior ambiance with orange lighting. This – and several other cool features – are available on the new CLE-Class.

More Digital Features Than Before

The MBUX Entertainment Package Plus now includes music/video streaming, internet radio, and data packages from third-party providers. Mercedes says the app store will improve with updated and expanded service offerings. The Burmester 3D surround sound system with Dolby Atmos forms part of the Premium Plus Package. The Burmester system is included in the $2,050 Exclusive trim and the $4,100 Pinnacle trim in the USA. Dolby Atmos was first introduced in late 2022 for high-end models such as the S-Class, Maybach S-Class, and EQS, to name a few vehicles.

Lastly, the GLC SUV and Coupe have a digital key, allowing the owner to lock, unlock, and start the engine with a compatible digital device. This adds extra convenience, as owners can share the digital key with up to 16 people. The C-Class and GLC are relatively new vehicles, so it’s surprising to see Mercedes already introducing an update for both models. We expect the C-Class to receive a more comprehensive update in 2025 or 2026. The GLC-Class is fresh and will remain unchanged for the next few years. We expect similar changes to be applied to US-spec models in the coming months.
