Ford Is Discounting Unsold F-150 Lightning Pickups By Over $15,000

Key Takeaways

  • 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning offers up to $15,250 in lease discounts.
  • Discounts vary based on model, but pricey Platinum gets the biggest incentive.
  • F-150 Lightning is currently the best-selling electric truck in the United States.

If you’re considering buying a new Ford F-150 Lightning, there’s no better time to do it, with Ford introducing appealing discounts and incentives for its electric pickup. CarsDirect reports that the 2023 Lightning is available with up to $15,250 in discounts via the RCL Customer Cash leasing rebate. If you’d rather wait for the 2024 model, the latest F-150 Lightning is cheaper than expected.

The best discounts are on the Platinum grade ($15,250), up from the $7,500 rebate. Lariat Standard Range models receive $9,750 off, while the Lariat Extended Range gets a $9,250 discount. Previously, both models had a rebate of $5,000. The lesser XLT may be cheaper, but the incentive could be more appealing at $1,500. However, the publication notes there is a way to work around this.

Plenty Of Ways To Save Money On An F-150 Lightning

An XLT with the Extended Range battery pack is eligible for $7,000 off, while models fitted with the Equipment Group 311A receive $4,250. It’s worth noting that these deals are only available for lease customers in ten cities, namely Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Houston, Dallas, Chicago, Atlanta, Cincinnati, Memphis, and Pittsburgh. California-based customers benefit from reduced money factors, with the three-year leasing rate reduced from 5.68% to 0.09%.

However, there are ways to save even more money when getting an F-150 Lightning. If you’re a Tesla driver, there’s a $1,500 incentive to get you out of your Model Y and into a Lightning. A $1,500 Trade-Assist Cash incentive is expected to come into effect ahead of Memorial Day. Even though the F-150 Lightning leads the field in electric truck sales, demand has declined to the point where Ford has cut two production shifts at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Dearborn, Michigan.

What About The 2024 F-150 Lightning?

It’s worth noting that these deals are only available for the 2023 F-150 Lightning, which suggests Ford is trying to clear out dealer inventory to make space for the new 2024 models, which include the newly introduced Flash trim. But even the MY2024 F-150 Lightnings have received a discount, with Ford announcing reduced pricing across the board. The Flash is now $5,500 cheaper than initially expected and retails for $67,995.

Ford has cut production for the F-150 Lightning due to dwindling demand, but it’s still outselling the competition.

Leasing deals for the MY2024 F-150 Lightning are less appealing. The entry-level XLT (the Pro is no longer available for private customers) will set you back $789 a month over 48 months, with a mileage cap of 10,500 miles and $7,298 due at signing. Let’s not forget that the F-150 Lightning is also eligible for the $7,500 tax credit incentive. We won’t be surprised to see more tempting lease deals in the year; several automakers have recently introduced great EV leasing deals to drum up sales.
