The government of Uttarakhand has flown in two Mahindra Thar SUVs to the Hindu temple of Kedarnath. These two SUVs were taken to the pilgrimage site with the help of the Chinook helicopter. A video showing this unique delivery of the Mahindra Thar to Kedarnath temple has been shared online. The government of Uttarakhand aims to provide assistance to elderly citizens with these new SUVs, which it has deployed.
Mahindra Thar in Kedarnath via helicopter
This video of the Mahindra Thar reaching Kedarnath has been shared on YouTube by Uttarakhand Tak. In this short video, a black Mahindra Thar hardtop was seen getting unloaded from the Indian Air Force’s Chinook helicopter. After it was unloaded, it was then taken to the main temple for the rituals by the officials of the temple.
As per the video, this is the first of the two Mahindra Thar SUVs which have been deployed in Kedarnath. The other one will be delivered tomorrow. According to the video, this Mahindra Thar was loaded from the Gauchar Airstrip. Following the delivery of the second Thar, they will be used to help the elderly, sick, and disabled people that come to worship at Kedarnath.
It has been also reported that three gold carts have also been delivered to the temple officials. All of these vehicles, including the two Mahindra Thars, will be stationed at MI26 and VIP Helipad. This information has been shared with the media outlets by Rahul Chaubey, District Tourism Officer, Rudraprayag.
The official highlighted that this Mahindra Thar will help the saints from the temple and other officials in moving from one place to another in the region. He added they will also help the elderly people, along with disabled and sick individuals, in smoothly reaching the temple and helipad.
Mahindra donated a Thar to a temple in Kerala
In 2021, Mahindra Automotive gifted a Thar AX soft top variant to the Guruvayur temple in Kerala. Following its donation, it was auctioned to Mr. Ali; however, this created a lot of controversy. Later, the first auction was canceled, and it was auctioned to Vignesh Vijayakumar, a Non-Resident Indian businessman from Dubai. He paid Rs 50 lakh for this SUV.
Mahindra also donated an XUV700 to a Kerala temple
Back in July of last year, Mahindra also donated a brand-new XUV700 SUV to the Guruvayur temple in Kerala. The keys to the car were handed over to Guruvayur Devaswom Board Chairman Dr. V.K. Vijayan. Mr. R. Velusamy, the product head of Mahindra, handed over the keys to the temple representative. It was reported that the petrol variant of the SUV was donated to the temple.
The Mahindra XUV700 petrol comes powered by a 2.0-litre mStallion turbocharged engine. This motor generates a maximum power of 200 PS and 380 Nm of peak torque. The diesel version of the SUV uses a 2.2-litre mHawk turbocharged engine that is available in two states of tune. The lower spec variants generate 155 PS and 360 Nm of peak torque. Meanwhile, the higher spec variants generate 185 PS and 450 Nm of peak torque.
