Is it legal to drive in the USA?
Numerous people have seen this for-sale post, and a lot of people have the same question in their mind. That question is if this Jimny is legal to drive in the USA or not. The primary reason behind the question is that Suzuki never officially homologated the Jimny (neither the three-door nor the five-door model) in the USA. However, despite this, the dealership claims that this Jimny is “legal to drive” with an “Oklahoma title.”
As per the information provided by the dealership, this Jimny has done 4,705 miles (7,571 km). This means that this Jimny is very close to being brand new. From the pictures, we can also note that this particular Jimny is in an absolutely stunning and brand-new condition.
At the moment, the vehicle’s history remains covered. As stated, the dealership has not provided specifics on how this Jimny was imported and titled in the U.S. Some reports have suggested that it may involve Oklahoma’s “Title 42 Possessory Lien Procedures.”
This is a legal mechanism that is primarily intended for titling farm equipment and mobile homes. Generally, such vehicles lack traditional documentation. Also, this particular Jimny is being sold on consignment. The dealership is acting as an intermediary for its owner.
The dealership added that this customer is their long-time contact. He is known for dealing in right-hand drive Land Rovers and similar off-road vehicles. The shop has highlighted that the owner of this Jimny is a regular figure in the local car show circuit.
It’s on sale for $54,995!
Now coming to the price, you might get shocked as this particular Jimny is for sale at a price tag of $54,995. In Indian currency, it is around Rs 46 lakh. Maruti Suzuki Jimny’s massive discounts are back
As the sales of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny have slumped in India, the company is once again offering this SUV with heavy discounts. Maruti Suzuki is offering discounts on both the Zeta and Alpha variants of the Jimny.
At the moment, the Zeta variant benefits from a Rs 50,000 discount. On the other hand, the Alpha variant, which was initially discounted by Rs 1.5 lakh, now enjoys a total discount of Rs 2.5 lakh.
In the last few months since December 2023, the sales of the Jimny have plummeted in the country. The highest sales of the Jimny were noted in December last year when the sales touched 730 units figure. Ever since then the company has not managed to cross even the 350 units per month figure.
In January of this year, the sales of the Jimny were at the lowest. The company only managed to dispatch a total of 163 units of this SUV. After this the sales in February, March, April and May were 322, 318, 257, and 274 respectively.
Experts have analysed that the primary reason behind the falling Jimny sales is that there are not many off-roading enthusiasts left in the country. It is believed that all of the enthusiasts who were eager for the launch of this SUV have already purchased it.
As it stands, normal car buyers who are not a huge fan of the Jimny badge (due to its international have not resonated well with the model. Most likely this reintroduction of the massive discounts will help the company to give a boost to the Jimny sales. However, there are still doubts if this is going to help the brand in the long run or not.
