After having a few quiet years in India with only a single product on offer, the Japanese automotive giant Nissan is gearing up to shake the Indian automotive market in the coming period. The company has been relentlessly working on the development of new products, and it is ready to bring in five new vehicles to the country. If you are also one of those who is interested in knowing which of these five cars are coming from Nissan, you have come to the right spot.
Nissan X-Trail
The first SUV, which has recently been revealed by Nissan, is the 2024 X-Trail. This will take on the role of being the brand’s flagship SUV in the country. Built on the CMF-C platform, this premium SUV boasts dimensions of 4,680mm in length, 1,840mm in width, and 1,725mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,705mm.
The X-Trail features a 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine paired with a 12V mild-hybrid system. This engine generates 163 bhp and 300 Nm of torque. The SUV also comes equipped with a ton of premium features, including a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, and others.
This SUV will be brought into the country via the CBU route and will be limited to 2,500 units yearly. It will be competing with the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tiguan, and MG Gloster in India. It will be priced in the range of Rs 40-45 lakh.
Nissan Magnite Facelift
Next up in the lineup is the popular Nissan Magnite facelift. The Magnite has been the company’s sole offering in the Indian automotive market for the longest time and will now receive a significant facelift early next year.
Although it will retain its existing 1.0-liter petrol engines, the new facelift will introduce refreshed bumpers, a new headlamp and grille assembly, and updated LED signatures. The interior updates are expected to include new trim pieces and additional features.
Notably, the facelift will also see the production of left-hand drive versions for export. With this, the company will potentially increase the annual production by 25,000-30,000 units. Expect to see a small price bump over the current Magnite that starts at Rs 6 lakh.
Duster-Based 5-Seater SUV (Likely to be Called Terrano)
The third SUV in the lineup is Nissan’s 5-seater SUV, which will be based on the new-generation Renault Duster. This model is expected to feature distinct styling elements such as L-shaped DRLs and a full-width LED light bar.
This model, like the new Duster, will be built on the modular CMF-B platform. Once launched, it will be competing with SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and other compact SUVs.
The SUV is expected to launch in late 2025. It has been reported that both the Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano (which it could most likely be named) will come with petrol-only engines. Both SUVs are expected to come with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine in their base guise.
Next-Gen Duster-Based 7-Seater SUV

In addition to the 5-seater variant, Nissan will also introduce a 7-seater SUV based on the next-gen Duster. This model will feature a longer wheelbase. There could also be some distinctive styling changes to differentiate it from the 5-row variant.
Most likely, it will come with the same powertrain options as the 5-seater variant. In terms of competition, this SUV will compete with larger SUVs such as the Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700, and Hyundai Alcazar.
Affordable Electric Vehicle (EV)
Not much is known about this SUV; however, it has been confirmed by Nissan that it will be offering an affordable EV in the country. This new entry-level hatchback will be based on the CMF-AEV platform. This EV aims to compete with models like the Tata Tiago EV and Citroen eC3. At the moment, the exact battery and electric motor specifications of this model have not been revealed by the company.
