Spy shots of the updated Kia EV6 GT landed in our inbox this morning, and they show that the facelifted version will have the bark to match its bite. A couple of months ago, the 2025 EV6 debuted with more aggressive styling, an updated cabin, and a larger battery pack, and now the high-performance GT version is preparing to show its take on these improvements.

The regular EV6 has a relatively plain, rectangular front lower intake grille (even EVs require some cooling air at times), but the GT-Line has a more aggressive, more angular lower fascia. The full-fat GT’s 2025 redesign is fully concealed in camouflage, but it appears that the GT-Line’s styling will be caricatured slightly, with larger lower side intakes and, at the rear, a more aggressive diffuser panel.

Performance Tricks Borrowed From The Ioniq 5 N

These styling changes will reportedly be joined by a more engaging driving experience, according to recent reports; insiders claim that the updated EV6 GT will get the simulated transmission of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, but not too much more of the pricier Hyundai’s remarkable hot hatch features because the Kia is “intended as more of a grand touring car.” The EV6 GT also doesn’t get access to the 600-plus horsepower in the Ioniq 5 N, so it’s nice to see that the development mule in these images is not overstyled.

The acid yellow brake calipers and sporty wheels won’t be to everyone’s tastes, but if a similar color looks good on a hybrid Porsche, an EV6 GT should be allowed to get away with the extravagance. We’re also expecting range and charging improvements for the GT, following the regular EV6’s upgrade to an 84 kWh battery (formerly 77.4 kWh). The regular car doesn’t receive any further powertrain upgrades, and to avoid treading on the toes of the pricier Ioniq 5 N, it’s likely that the GT won’t exceed its existing 576 hp, but nothing has been confirmed yet.


A New Interior, Too

Sadly, our spies could not get close enough to peek inside the cabin, but the regular model’s updates provide a preview. The infotainment and driver’s screens will be integrated into a single curved panoramic display, a la BMW, and the steering wheel is likely to be redesigned in a more angular shape and an offset logo. Unfortunately, the updates will also mean touch-sensitive controls rather than physical knobs and buttons for the heated seats and various other functions, but there are plenty of those for other features, so we can’t complain too much. After all, the current EV6 is an award-winning machine. With the regular EV6 only recently breaking cover, and this prototype appearing to be production-ready, we expect a reveal before the end of the year.
