Tata cars are known for their build quality. However, we often come across incidents where Tata car customers have suffered due to poor service from dealerships. Recently, a new video surfaced in which a Tata-authorized service center crashed a one-year-old Tata Harrier, and when the customer inquired about it, he was met with abuse.
The video was shared by Prateek Singh on his YouTube channel. In this video, a Tata Harrier is seen lying upside down in a water-filled pit beside a road. The video explains that the owner of this pre-facelift Harrier had left his one-year-old SUV at a dealership for routine service.
The owner mentioned that he was a happy Tata customer, and his SUV had no issues since he bought it. The SUV was dropped off at the service center, and the owner went about his day. He was so busy that he didn’t have time to pick up his car and almost forgot about it. After 8-10 days, when the owner’s father visited the service center to inquire about the vehicle, he was shocked.
Initially, the service center staff behaved strangely and did not provide any information about the vehicle. After some time, they told the customer that the car was taken out for a test and was involved in a crash. The customer then rushed to the scene and found his car upside down, with the front and roof completely damaged.
There is no clarity on how the accident happened, but the owner believes that the SUV was driven at a very high speed, and the service center staff lost control on a curve. The SUV was extensively damaged, and when the customer asked for an explanation, he didn’t receive a satisfactory response. The customer also noted that the crash occurred at a location at least 15-20 km away from the service center, while such test drives are usually conducted closer to the service center.
The service center staff asked him to claim insurance to settle the issue. However, the customer refused, as the accident was not his fault. It occurred due to the careless driving of the service center staff. When the customer started arguing, the staff even abused him and used caste slurs.
The customer requested that the car be replaced or that he be compensated, but the service center insisted on claiming insurance and settling for the money. The customer is mentally traumatized by this behavior, which is evident from the audio clip. The customer noted that the staff’s behavior was different when he bought the car, but their attitude has completely changed since then.
He even wrote to Tata’s senior management, but no action has been taken. The incident happened a month ago, and still, no resolution has been provided. This is truly unfortunate, as the customer now regrets choosing an Indian brand.
This is not the first time we have come across such an incident. A few years ago, a service center staff member crashed a customer’s Kia Sonet inside the service center. The video went viral, and after the incident, the dealership replaced the damaged car with a brand-new Kia Sonet of the same variant.
